BENDAY005
BENDAY005 draws bold benday dots in a 0° pattern (horizontal and vertical) with evenly spaced dots. Originally developed in the 1870’s by Benjamin Henry Day, Jr., benday dots became the industry standard for four color process in comic books for decades as well as being popularized by Roy Lichtenstein in his pop art works in the 1970’s. The most popular benday patterns are typically used at 45° patterns and not at 0° as this Stipplr Action generates, for a 45° pattern please see BENDAY007 through BENDAY012. With the source image layer selected, executing this Stipplr Action immediately starts the process of rendering dots across a new layer in Photoshop, the vector shaped benday dots are then stored within a Smart Object container for easier manipulation and safety of the vector content — while transforming the vector shapes will not destroy the path data, distoring the vector shape can be impossible to fix. Applying transformations to the Smart Object avoids this issue. For additional information about Stipplr Actions or how to get started please browse through the tutorial section on this site.
