BENDAY007 is arguably the most popular form of benday dot patterns rendered at 45 degrees. Popularized by Roy Lichtenstein, benday dots were first introduced by Benjamin Henry Day, Jr. in the 1870’s they became extremely popular as an inexpensively means of creating gradients and secondary colors such flesh tones which were very popular in vintage comic books. The original benday dot pattern was typicaly a dry transfer process which meant that the dots were all the same circumference within whatever area they were applied to. This Stipplr Action differs from the original application and allows for the dots to decrease in circumference as the dots encounter the lighter areas in the source image — this effectively simulates the gradients in the source image much more effectively.  For an application of solid uniform dots please refer to the tutorial section of this site.
