CMYK002 is a proof of concept Action which simulates the four color process using halftone patterns applied to each of the CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and keyline (black)). While the results are usuable this particular Action may take several minutes to complete — the CMYK vector traced shape results are then wrapped up within a newly created Smart Object layer and placed on the layer above the selected source image within Photoshop. Editing the Smart Object opens a PSB with the four layers which can be toggled to change the pattern style or color depth. This Stipplr Action is similar to CMYK001 but produces slightly bigger halftone dots — the patterns are also transparent, designers will need to add a solid white layer under the final result otherwise content below the Smart Object will peak through inbetween the halftone pattern and greatly affect its appearance. This Action was created in an attempt to better understand the halftone patterns and printing effects involved in the four color process printing style of early comic books — the goal is to eventually have a sequence of Stipplr Actions which can simuate an actual comic book style.  For additional resources on Stipplr Actions please consider reading the posts found under the tutorial section of this website.
