New York Brooklyn Bridge Hybrid Cable Stayed Suspension

This is a colour photo of the Brooklyn Bridge circa 1875 (the date is immortalized in stone between the arches). The bridge is a cabled stayed/suspension bridge which whose construction was completed in 1883.  The New York And Brooklyn Bridge is symetrical with arches over lanes in both directions and it was the first wire suspension bridge constructed in the United States.  The bridge carries 6 lanes of traffic and has an additional bike and pedestrian path in the center between the 2 sets of lanes.
